Returns, Refunds, Compatibility & Product Support Policy

Last updated: August 10, 2026

Maiocco Music and Design wants every customer to have a product that works properly for them and their instrument. Because trombone designs vary considerably between manufacturers, models, and production years, and because the Maiocco Design Trombone Hand Grip is intended to be individually adjusted by the user, compatibility and installation can vary from one instrument to another.

This policy explains how returns, refunds, compatibility concerns, product failures, and shipping issues are handled.

Nothing in this policy limits any rights that cannot legally be limited under applicable consumer law.

Purchases Made Directly From Maiocco Music and Design

Unless otherwise stated, this policy applies to purchases made directly through the Maiocco Music and Design website.

Products purchased through a music store, dealer, distributor, marketplace, or other third-party seller are subject to that seller's return and refund policies. Maiocco Music and Design is happy to assist with compatibility questions, adjustment guidance, and product-related concerns, but refunds for third-party purchases generally must be requested from the seller that processed the original transaction.

Instrument Compatibility

The Maiocco Design Trombone Hand Grip is designed to work with many modern tenor and bass trombones, but universal compatibility is not guaranteed.

Differences in slide braces, receivers, tubing diameters, valve arrangements, and other instrument geometry can prevent the grip from attaching securely or functioning as intended. Instruments may also differ within the same manufacturer or model depending on production year, modifications, or replacement components.

If you are unsure whether your trombone is compatible, please contact Maiocco Music and Design before attempting installation or adjustment. In many cases, compatibility can be evaluated from a few clear photographs of the instrument.

Any compatibility guidance provided by Maiocco Music and Design is based on the information and photographs available at the time and represents our best assessment. Because individual instruments can vary, compatibility advice should not be interpreted as a guarantee of fit unless expressly stated otherwise.

If the grip does not attach securely, requires substantial force to install, interferes with operation of the instrument, or otherwise appears incompatible, installation should be discontinued and Maiocco Music and Design should be contacted before further adjustment.

Damage resulting from force-fitting the grip, attempting installation on an incompatible instrument, or continuing installation after a compatibility problem becomes apparent may not be eligible for refund or replacement.

Returns

Customers who purchase directly from Maiocco Music and Design may request a return within 30 days of delivery.

Please contact Maiocco Music and Design before mailing a product back. Return instructions will be provided after the request has been reviewed.

For voluntary returns, products must be returned in reasonable condition. Normal hot-water adjustment of the hand grip does not by itself make a product ineligible for return; however, products that have been broken, cut, drilled, chemically altered, substantially sanded, or otherwise damaged may not be eligible unless the damage is determined to be related to a product or manufacturing issue.

Customers are generally responsible for return shipping costs on voluntary returns.

Original shipping charges are generally non-refundable for voluntary returns, except where required by applicable law.

Once an approved return has been received and inspected, any approved refund will be issued to the original payment method.

Maiocco Music and Design may, at its discretion, issue a refund without requiring the product to be returned.

Compatibility-Related Returns

If you discover after receiving the grip that it does not properly fit your instrument, please contact Maiocco Music and Design before continuing to reshape, modify, or force the grip onto the instrument.

If the product is found to be incompatible and remains undamaged, Maiocco Music and Design will work with you to determine an appropriate resolution under this policy.

If the grip becomes damaged while attempting installation on an instrument whose compatibility had not been confirmed, the circumstances of the installation may be considered when determining eligibility for a refund or replacement.

In particular, a product failure caused by forcing the attachment clip over tubing or geometry for which it was not designed is not necessarily considered a manufacturing defect.

Product Problems and Manufacturing Issues

If your product cracks, fractures, or otherwise fails during normal intended use, please contact Maiocco Music and Design.

To help evaluate the issue, customers may be asked to provide:

  • The original order number
  • The make and model of the trombone
  • Clear photographs of the affected area
  • A brief description of when and how the failure occurred

Each situation is evaluated individually. Depending on the circumstances, Maiocco Music and Design may offer a replacement, refund, troubleshooting assistance, or another appropriate resolution.

Factors considered may include the age and version of the product, the nature and location of the failure, instrument compatibility, installation, adjustment, and the manner in which the product was being used.

Providing this information does not automatically guarantee a refund or replacement.

Hot-Water Adjustment

Hot-water adjustment is an intended feature of the Maiocco Design Trombone Hand Grip and, when performed properly, does not by itself affect eligibility for product support.

The material must be sufficiently softened before significant adjustment is attempted. Damage caused by forcing the material while it remains too rigid, excessive bending or twisting, unintentionally reducing the diameter of the attachment clip, or otherwise placing excessive mechanical stress on the product may not be considered a manufacturing defect.

If a grip requires substantial force to reshape, adjustment should be stopped until the material has been sufficiently reheated.

Customers who are uncertain about the adjustment process are encouraged to contact Maiocco Music and Design before continuing.

Installation-Related Damage

The attachment clip is designed to flex sufficiently to attach to compatible instruments. It should not require excessive force.

Damage resulting from any of the following may not qualify as a product or manufacturing defect:

  • Force-fitting the grip onto incompatible tubing
  • Installing the grip on an instrument with incompatible geometry
  • Bending the grip before it has been sufficiently heated
  • Pinching or molding the attachment clip substantially smaller than its intended diameter
  • Excessive twisting, bending, or mechanical force
  • Cutting, drilling, machining, or chemically altering the product
  • Impact, crushing, or other accidental damage
  • Use in a manner substantially different from its intended purpose

These situations will still be reviewed individually.

Appearance and 3D-Printed Manufacturing Characteristics

Maiocco Design products are manufactured using additive manufacturing processes.

As a result, minor cosmetic variations may occur between individual products. These can include visible layer lines, slight differences in surface texture, small marks associated with the printing process, and areas of increased texture around particularly steep overhangs or complex geometry.

Minor cosmetic characteristics that do not materially affect the strength, comfort, installation, or function of the product are not considered manufacturing defects.

If you believe the finish of your product is outside what should reasonably be expected, please contact Maiocco Music and Design with photographs and we will be happy to review it.

Cushion Sleeves and Other Small Accessory Orders

To keep shipping costs reasonable, cushion sleeves and certain other small accessory-only orders may be shipped using USPS First-Class Mail without tracking.

Because these shipments do not include tracking, the Shop app or other order-tracking services may not provide transit updates after the order has been mailed. An estimated delivery date displayed by an app or checkout service should not be interpreted as a guaranteed delivery date.

Occasional postal delays can occur. If an untracked accessory shipment has not arrived within a reasonable period after shipment, please contact Maiocco Music and Design so the situation can be reviewed.

Tracked shipping may be used when available or selected for an order.

Shipping and Delivery

Shipping and delivery dates are estimates unless Maiocco Music and Design expressly agrees in writing to a guaranteed delivery date.

Once an order has shipped, transit times and delivery are affected by the carrier and may be impacted by weather, transportation delays, customs processing, address issues, and other circumstances outside Maiocco Music and Design's direct control.

If an order has not arrived, please contact Maiocco Music and Design before assuming the shipment is lost.

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address when placing an order. If an order is returned because of an incorrect or incomplete address, refusal of delivery, or other customer-provided delivery information, additional shipping charges may be required before the order is sent again.

If Maiocco Music and Design is unable to ship an order within the timeframe represented at the time of purchase, the order will be handled in accordance with applicable law. Federal rules require online sellers to have a reasonable basis for advertised shipping times and to address delays appropriately when those times cannot be met.

International Orders

International customers are responsible for understanding the import requirements applicable in their country.

Unless otherwise stated at checkout, customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage fees, handling charges, and other charges assessed by customs authorities, postal services, or shipping carriers are the responsibility of the recipient.

International delivery estimates do not include guarantees regarding the amount of time a shipment may spend in customs.

Maiocco Music and Design cannot control customs inspections, clearance procedures, duty assessments, or processing times after a shipment enters the destination country.

If an international shipment is returned because the recipient refused delivery, failed to complete customs clearance, did not pay required import charges, or provided an incorrect address, any refund or reshipment will be determined after the package has been returned and any carrier charges have been assessed. Original shipping costs and unrecoverable carrier or customs charges may be deducted where permitted by applicable law.

International customers may have additional rights under the consumer-protection laws of their country. Nothing in this policy is intended to waive or restrict rights that cannot legally be waived. For example, EU consumers purchasing online generally have statutory withdrawal rights and separate legal protections for faulty goods.

Order Cancellations

Orders may be canceled for a full refund if cancellation is requested before the order has been fulfilled or shipped.

Once an order has entered the shipping process, it may no longer be possible to cancel it. The applicable return policy will then apply after delivery.

Final-Sale and Clearance Products

Products specifically identified as Final Sale at the time of purchase are not eligible for voluntary returns or exchanges.

This does not affect any rights relating to defective products that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Replacement Products

Providing a replacement product as a customer-service accommodation does not necessarily mean that Maiocco Music and Design has determined the original product was defective.

Courtesy replacements are intended to resolve an individual customer concern and do not establish that identical circumstances will qualify for replacement in every case.

Unless required otherwise by applicable law, issuing a courtesy replacement does not automatically create a new return period based on the replacement's delivery date.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method whenever possible.

After a refund is submitted, additional processing time may be required by the customer's bank, card issuer, PayPal, or other payment provider before the funds appear in the customer's account.

Changes to This Policy

This policy applies to orders placed on or after the effective date shown above.

Maiocco Music and Design may update this policy from time to time as products, manufacturing processes, shipping methods, and business practices evolve.
