Why a Hand Grip?
The trombone is not a naturally ergonomic instrument. In a standard playing position, nearly all of the instrument's weight falls on the pinky and ring fingers - a small muscle group never designed to bear that load. Over time, this leads to tension, fatigue, and long-term strain, especially for bass trombonists.
A hand grip redistributes that weight across the back and side of your hand, freeing your fingers entirely. The trombone becomes an extension of your hand, held by gravity rather than muscle effort, leaving you relaxed, stable, and focused on your playing.

While other options on the market range from leather grips that wear out over time to metal braces that sacrifice comfort for strength, I wanted something that didn't compromise - and didn't cost a fortune. As a trombonist who's tried them all, I designed this grip to give you premium performance and feel without the premium price tag.
How do I know it will fit my instrument?
The grip was designed and tested primarily on Shires, Bach, and Edwards large-bore tenor and bass trombones, and it is compatible with many other instruments as well.
Because trombone geometry varies considerably between manufacturers and models, compatibility with every instrument cannot be guaranteed. Small-bore trombones can often be accommodated by using the hot-water adjustment process to tighten the attachment clip, although certain brace layouts, tubing sizes, and slide receiver designs may prevent the grip from fitting securely.
If you're unsure about compatibility, please contact me before ordering or attempting installation. A few clear photos of the area where the grip attaches are usually enough for me to determine whether it is likely to work.
If the grip does not attach easily and securely, do not force it onto the instrument. Damage caused by attempting to install the grip on an incompatible instrument may not be eligible for a refund or replacement.
This process involves boiling water and can cause serious burns. Please proceed with caution. Do not over-bend the grip - excessive force or bending beyond its natural range may cause the grip to crack or snap. Fantastic product! Good quality, easily adjustable, already making a huge difference in my comfort while playing the larger horn. Although not listed as tested on the Conn 88H, it fits well. Honestly, I don’t know how I played without the hand grip! Highly recommended!

Snapped right on to my Yamaha YBL-622. I formed the grip to my hand with hot water, and it works great! It would be nice if the grip was about 3/8" to 1/2" longer for the Yamaha in particular, but not necessary.
This makes my horn feel lighter and more comfortable. I can't believe how good it feels.

It’s solid. I like the way it snaps on, but since it’s harder it digs into my hand a bit at the fulcrum point.

I am an older trombonist and occasionally I get cramps in my hands. I bought this grip to see if that will keep me from putting a death grip on my trombone. So far, so good!
